Reconstucting Residential Buildings

Often the short cut toward the house of your dreams might include tearing down an old house, but often there's a way to re-build, re-purpose, or renovate. At ch architects we specialize in sensitive careful renovations and we've had the pleasure to work on houses dating from 1890, 1910, 1930, and a couple from the 1960's like this Whidbey Island residence pictured below.


This post from Arch Daily and a 2020 Global Status Report for Buildings say that "... in 2019, the civil construction sector, responsible for 38% of global CO2 emissions from materials, constructions and construction operations - reached its historical maximum."


As we think about what's coming in 2022 let's work harder to find ways to reduce waste in building, reuse what we have, and repurpose our old residential buildings.
