A client recently came to ch architects with this question. They had talked to contractors, window suppliers, solar energy people and others and was becoming increasingly frustrated that they were only getting advice that had to do with the specific expertise of the person they were talking to. The window people told them they had to change all the windows in the house, the insulation people told her she had to upgrade all the insulation. The new home builders told them they needed to knock the building down and start again. In this increasingly complex world where we are all in agreement that we need to improve our collective carbon footprint, this is a key question.
