Beautiful, Simple Wimbledon House was Meant to Solve Modular Housing

Writer's picture: Christopher HoytChristopher Hoyt

At ch architects we have a soft spot for houses designed in the 60's, for modernism, and modular housing. Richard Rogers died this month - a British architect best known for the Pompidou Centre in Paris, pictured, and for his "high tech" approach to designing buildings. But we really love the modest house he designed for his parents, starting in 1967 at 22 Parkside in Wimbledon. It was intended to be a modular design that could be built in a factory and repeated elsewhere. Dezeen interviewed him about it in 2018 - and you can watch the video here.
